Election 2024: Reporting from the Frontlines, Podcasting Tips & Sustainability Insights

🎙️ From the Frontlines of Democracy

Last weekend, I had the privilege of covering the Dun Laoghaire Constituency count for Newstalk at Leopardstown Racecourse during the General Election 2024. Covering elections is an event I liken to our version of All-Ireland day, or for those outside of Ireland, a major sporting event. The adrenaline, the energy, and the real-time unfolding of history are what make election reporting one of the most exhilarating parts of my career.

Thanks to John Keogh for inviting me back into the fold for the weekend. Over the years, I’ve covered several elections, each one unique in its political landscape and the stories it tells. This election was no different, filled with both heartbreaking losses and joyous victories.

I’m passionate about bringing these pivotal moments in Irish politics to the public. From capturing the emotional rollercoaster of candidates to analysing the implications for our country, my role goes beyond just reporting—I aim to provide context and clarity to help the audience understand the bigger picture. It’s a reminder of why I’m so passionate about media and its power to inform and engage.
