From Paris with Love: Climate, Conservation & Comms Tips
As we enter the final stretch of July, I wanted to share a few stories that have left me feeling hopeful — from biodiversity wins to bold community action.
It’s been a full few weeks between podcasting, hosting events, and learning in Paris — so let’s catch up...
🎙️ Cut Through the Noise – Returning in September
CTTN is also taking a short break for August. Season 9 will launch in September with a new line-up of guests, fresh insights, and practical tips for more confident, purposeful communications. Can’t wait to be back with you then!
If you missed the Series 8 Wrap-Up, now’s a great time to catch up:
🎧 Listen here
If you’ve been enjoying the show, I’d love if you left a rating or review—it helps the podcast grow and ensures these important conversations reach the people who need them.
And if Cut Through the Noise has sparked something for you in your own organisation or team, feel free to get in touch — I’d be happy to chat about how I can support your internal comms strategy.
🇫🇷 From Paris with Love – Learning Digital Sustainability
I’m currently in Paris on an Erasmus+ programme, exploring Digital Sustainability and how we can responsibly use technology in education and communication.
Here’s what we’ve been unpacking:
The growing carbon footprint of digital tools (yes — even bigger than aviation!)
How to embed sustainability thinking into everyday teaching and business communication
Creating school and community action plans for digital awareness and sustainability
It’s been inspiring to explore how we can move from clicks to consciousness — and I’m excited to integrate this learning into future work. (Also: yes to croissants. Always yes.)
📣 Media & Publicity Tips — Use the “Silly Season” to Your Advantage
You’ve likely heard of the “silly season” — that quiet summer stretch when journalists have fewer big stories to cover.
Here’s the opportunity: This is the perfect time to pitch.
Whether you're launching something new, have a unique personal or business story, or simply want to build your media relationships — now is a great time to reach out.
Tips:
Think local first: Regional papers and radio are always looking for community stories during summer.
Make it relevant: Connect your message to a seasonal hook — events, holidays, back-to-school, or even sustainability in the heat.
Be helpful: Offer yourself as a future contributor or expert in your niche.
Keep it short: A quick, well-written pitch email (3-4 lines) with a strong subject line works best.

🌿 Let’s Go Green – Conservation, Community & Climate Justice
This week on Let’s Go Green on Midlands 103, I’m shining a light on some good news stories in conservation and community-led climate solutions.
Owen Murphy of the Breeding Waders EIP Project shares the uplifting release of young curlew in the midlands — a hopeful sign for one of Ireland’s most endangered native birds.
I also chat with Alan Wyley of EnergyCloud, a charity tackling energy poverty by providing free renewable energy to households in need — a smart, impactful approach to both social and climate goals.

👉 Next week will be the final episode of this season before we take a short summer pause. Stay tuned!

That’s all for now — I’ll be back next week for the final Let’s Go Green episode of the season, and back with both podcasts in September.
Until then, I hope you find some moments to pause, reset, and maybe plant a seed or two (literally or figuratively!).
Warm regards,
