The Power of Irish Communication on the International Stage
The latest episode of Cut Through The Noise is now live
This week’s Cut Through The Noise episode is a bit of a special one.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Gina London—Leadership Communications expert and former CNN anchor—about the real differences in how we communicate across cultures, particularly between Ireland and the U.S.
If you’re a business owner with international ambitions, or simply someone navigating conversations across different contexts, this one’s for you.
We talked about:
The key communication differences between Irish and American business cultures
What Irish companies need to understand before expanding into the U.S.
How leadership communication is shaped by cultural expectations
And how to build stronger international relationships by understanding nuance
🎧 Listen here: Mastering Cross-Cultural Business Communications with Gina London
One of the points Gina made that really stuck with me was about the Irish tendency to downplay our strengths—and how, rather than trying to mimic other styles, we should lean into what makes our way of communicating so compelling.
“We, as Irish people, have a friendly nature that we enhance with casual banter, and we should lean into this Irish spirit in our communications—not shy away from it.”
On Let’s Go Green this week…
We're exploring how to build a business with purpose—and how even small shifts in our habits can have a big impact.
I spoke with:
Fiona Parfrey of Riley, about becoming B Corp certified and what it actually means behind the badge
Patricia Kane of Reuzi, who’s taking on the challenge of buying no new clothes in 2025—a bold but powerful move
And we looked at how AI’s energy consumption might challenge our climate goals
There’s also news of a new climate and biodiversity group in Offaly, focused on local solutions and grassroots change.

Social Media Fest 2025
Last week’s Social Media Fest was full of energy, insight, and honest conversations about how we show up online. I had the opportunity to speak on a panel with Regina Mangan and James Sweetman, where we explored what thought leadership really means—and how fear can often hold us back from being visible.
One of the key messages I shared (and still stand by) is: if you wouldn’t go to someone for advice, you don’t need to take their criticism onboard either. The day also featured practical sessions on everything from podcasting and SEO to building engaged communities and turning followers into clients. Hats off to Samantha Kelly and the team for creating such a meaningful event.
