The New Rules of Social Media Advertising: Building Trust with Your Audience

Cut Through the Noise: Social Media Advertising, Trust and Brand Values

This week I’m joined by Orla Twomey, Chief Executive of the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI), for a practical conversation about the fast-moving world of social media advertising.

We dig into what the rules mean in real life. We talk about how to build trust and keep it. We explore how to ensure your ads reflect your brand values rather than undermine them.

What we cover

  • The rules and regulations every brand should know before advertising online.

  • How to build trust with your audience through clear, compliant advertising.

  • How to ensure your campaigns match your brand values and tone of voice.

Bonus content on YouTube

In this week’s bonus segment we look at the risks of advertising under a specific identity, such as positioning your brand as “green”, and the potential consequences if your claims don’t stand up to scrutiny.

Who this episode is for

Marketers who need clarity. Founders who wear every hat. Brand builders who want long-term trust, not short-term clicks.

Let’s Go Green on Midlands 103

This week on Let’s Go Green, I’m focusing on energy, innovation and sustainability in both business and community life.

I was joined by Ronan Power of Solar Ireland to talk about the growing role of solar energy in meeting Ireland’s renewable targets. We explored the latest developments in the sector, what homeowners and businesses need to know, and how solar is becoming more accessible.

I also spoke with Martin Gorman of Tullamore Dew about how the distillery is working to reduce its environmental impact. From energy use to water conservation, we discussed the challenges and opportunities of embedding sustainability into a large-scale production process.

Finally, Victor Balfry of EZO EV Charging joined me to share a new initiative that will help sports clubs access EV chargers for their facilities. We looked at how this project could support local communities, promote cleaner transport and make climate action more visible where people gather.

You can tune in every Monday night at 7pm on Midlands 103, or listen back on your preferred podcast platform.

Let’s Go Green is proudly sponsored by EirGrid Group, supporting informed conversations on energy, sustainability and innovation across Ireland.
